In the 9th edition of “L'Oréal e-Strat Challenge”, which is one of the world’s biggest online business simulations, Bilkent MBA students
Koray Argun, Ali Baştepe and Engin Güven won the second prize as a team. The team had managed to rank first in Turkey, Middle
East and Africa zone, and was invited to the finals in Paris on 22 April 2009. Managing a cosmetics company in simulation environment,
Bilkent MBA team earned the first ranking for Turkey in MBA category throughout the history of the competition.

(Career Programme - 3501) for her research project titled “German multinational corporations and the management of human resources in Turkish subsidiaries:
transfer of policy and practices”.
January 2009,
Bilkent University's Faculty of Business Administration has become a
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program Partner. The partnership agreement
was signed on January 28 by Dean Erdal Erel and Dennis McLeavey, the Head of
Education of the CFA Institute.
The CFA Institute is a global, not-for-profit association for investment
professionals. It awards the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA)
designation, administers CFA curriculum and exam programs worldwide,
publishes research, conducts professional development programs, and sets
voluntary, ethics-based professional and performance-reporting standards for
the investment industry.
This partnership aligns three programs of the business school with the CFA
Program Candidate Body of Knowledge ® syllabus: Undergraduate, MS in Finance
and MBA programs. This will allow candidates to prepare for the CFA Program
and place them with an advantageous position when seeking to enter into the
finance industry.
The partnership agreement was signed on January 28 by Dean Erdal Erel and
Dennis McLeavey, the Head of Education of the CFA Institute. The chairman
of the Capital Markets Board, Dr Turan Erol, delivered an opening speech
stating the crucial role and importance of these partnerships and
designations in the finance industry. McLeavey stated that through the
partnership they are able to bring the CFA Program to more students and
hopefully increase the number of qualified investment professionals working
in the region, while Vice Rector Kürşat Aydoğan emphasized the importance of
external evaluation and accreditation of the departments. Dean Erel
announced that five student scholarships will be awarded annually to cover
program enrollment fees and a large portion of exam registration fees.

Assoc. Prof. Suheyla Ozyildirim has been appointed as the Associate Dean of the FBA as of November 1, 2008.
Dr Ozyildirim is a graduate of TED Ankara College. She received a BA in Management from Orta Dogu Technical University, MS in
Economics from Johns Hopkins University, and Ph.D. in Economics from Bilkent University. After graduation, she continued her post-doctoral
studies in UW-Madison and Harvard University and joined to FBA, Bilkent University in September 1998.

In his opening speech, Dean Erdal Erel emphasized the good match between the challenging objectives of the program and the high qualifications of those taking part. The fifteen participants, with an average work experience of over ten years, will meet Fridays and Saturdays, every second week for twenty months.
The program consists of various modules, such as organization and strategy, law, economics, finance and accounting, operations, decision making, and marketing. The program aims to develop world-class executives who can compete in today's business world. The Undersecretary for Defense Industries, Murad Bayar, delivered a speech as the keynote speaker during a dinner at the start of the program. He pointed out the importance of Executive MBA programs for those who wish to become tomorrow's business leaders.

Dr Kadire Zeynep Sayım received Emerald-Employee Relations Award for Best
Paper in IREC (Industrial Relations in Europe Conference) 2008 between 23-25 June
2008 organised by Greenwich University in London.
IREC was formed about 20 years ago by academics and researchers in Europe as a loose
network of those researching into industrial relations in Europe led by Prof Richard
Hyman, one of the eminent names in Industrial Relations. They normally hold a
conference once a year. This year academics and researchers from various European
countries, including Turkey, had discussed the future of industrial relations in
Europe around the main conference theme of "Nation States, Europeanisation and
Globalisation". Prof Sue Corby of the Greenwich University indicated in her speech
at the Award Ceremony that Dr Sayım was awarded the prize for her paper that
investigated the influence of American multinationals in IR and particularly
unionisation issues in Turkey with a strong analytical framework and rich empirical
findings, which are found less often in such studies from Turkey.
